Allen for Model Number GEW 9250 PW1 11 year old dryer. About 12 months ago, we ran a couple normal loads of clothes. It finished the cycles correctly, but after the second cycle, dryer would not accept new commands via the front user interface panel. Pressing buttons had no effect. Several LEDs were glowing (Not the Control Locked LED). Uplugged dryer for a few minutes, then plugged in and everything worked. Last week, wife reported an "electrical" smell last (vents, lint trap are maintained regularly) and now have to leave dryer unplugged over an hour and can only get one load of clothes before having to unplug. From research, likely culprits appear to be either Control Board or User Interface Board. I don't mind replacing one or the other, but if I had to replace both, would probably just buy a new dryer. Dryer does get the clothes dried, so this appears to be an issue with the control/ interlock system. Is there a way to diagnose these boards? I am mechanically/ electrically competent. Thanks, Allen
Answer Allen, Unfortunately the only way to test the control board would be to test power in and power out. With the unit operating normally when it does run and then shuts down and will not run a second load then this issue would more likely be a control board that is faulty. Read More...
