Joe Mohr for Model Number Kenmore 106.51122 210 Water dispenser just stopped working for no apparent reason. The filter replacement light was green. When I pull the filter, the dispenser works. Tried a new filter, but when the filter is in place, no water is dispensed. Tried another new filter and got the same result. No water is dispensed. This leads me to think that it is the housing. Is there anything else I should check before ordering one? They are a bit pricy. Thanks.
Answer Joe, If you're sure the correct water filter EDR1RXD1 / EDR1RXD1/ 9081 Filter was installed properly and the door was properly closed and snapped into place, then yes you will need to replace the W10862456 / W10862456 Housing. The internal bypass mechanism isn't being activated by the insertion of the filter, to allow the water to flow into and through the filter medium, but will operate with the filter removed.
