Manufacturer Part Number: W11185686

The Ice Container Assembly is an OEM component for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is the bin that collects and stores ice produced by the ice maker. With its precise design and durable construction, the ice container allows ice cubes to easily drop down through the chute from the ice maker.

Causes of a bad ice container assembly can include cracks or broken parts that prevent proper operation. Over many uses, normal wear and tear may compromise its ability to effectively store and retain ice.

Symptoms of a bad ice container assembly include:

  • Ice cubes dropping outside of the container and accumulating elsewhere
  • Difficulty removing cubes from the container
  • Cracks or openings that compromise insulation and cause premature melting

This replacement is also compatible with Kenmore, KitchenAid, and select Maytag models.

Siddharth P. for Model Number WRX735SDBM03

My ice container assembly is stuck solid, can't pull it out. When I was able to pull out I noticed a sheet of ice below the container assembly which causes the container assembly to get stuck. After I cleaned everything, it would work ok for a few hours, and then again it got stuck. The icemaker does make ice but it gets lumped and then gets stuck as big chunks could not be broken by the rotating shaft to come out. Can you let me know what could be the issue and how to fix it? Thank you

Answer

Hello Siddharth, The ice formation was most likely caused by a poor ice door seal. Unfortunately, in every case I have seen with the ice formation that has caused the ice container to be stuck in so it cannot be easily removed, the cause was a warped door liner. This is only serviceable by replacing the complete door assembly 13107324SQ since the door liner is not available individually.
