Sam for Model Number Whirlpool refrigerator with ice maker in freezer compartment The ice maker stopped working altogether. I removed the ice maker from the freezer and I tried to turn the wheel on the front which turns the blades, but the blades would not turn at all. I removed the housing which is the function for the gear and the gear still can not be turned by hand. I am thinking I need to replace this part, IM #S 106 626633, am I correct in my amateur diagnosis? Thank you for your help. sam
Answer Sam, You may want to re install and test the ice maker again. Hopefully you didn't damage anything by accident. You'll need to get a short length of 14 guage insulated wire, and remove 1/2 inch of insulation from both ends of the wire. Tape the freezer door switch closed, insert one end of the jumper wire into the "T" and the other in the "H" openings, and hold it there until the main gear starts to rotate, then remove it, and allow the ice maker to advance through the cycle. Please supply a model number on your next post, it will help to properly assist you. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, November 8, 2012
