Rpb for Model Number WRT318FZDW09 I have recently ordered a Whirlpool refrigerator model number WRT318FZDW. It was ordered with an icemaker kit. When they delivered the refrigerator I found out it is defective. It does not cool enough so I called the store and they sent me a second identical unit. I intended to reuse the icemaker kit from the defective refrigerator of the same model. I found out later the icemaker kit does not plug into the second fridge, whose model number is WRT318FZDW09 but it does plug into the defective one which is WRT318FZDW06, two new fridges delivered 4 days apart are different. The 09 one has a 5 port socket in the back of the freezer while the 06 one has an 8 port socket. I called Whirlpool and they said I need an adapter which is WPW10360140 to convert what I have to the 09 version of the fridge. I tried to ask them if there exists an icemaker that works with the 09 model without an adapter and they do not seem to know or understand my question while passing me from customer experience to parts to advance service. My question is, is the part WPW10715708 a newer icemaker that has an integrated 4 port terminal that plugs directly into the 09 fridge, or is that the older icemaker that works with the 06 fridge with the adapter harness wire included? Thank you.
Answer Hello Rpb, unfortunately we are not able to answer your question, the numbers 06 and 09 at end of model number are different versions of the base ref model. Apparently the manufacturer has changed the ice maker's plug in wire harness connector from previous models (06 to 09), the rest of the ice maker kit is unchanged, there is no adapter other then using the newer ice maker wire harness. Suggest you again contact the manufacturer's Customer Service as the manufacturer has not released the 09 version ref model parts list. Their Customer Service can put in a part request to the ref factory for the correct ice maker kit for your model. Also check the rear outer cabinet panel as most times the optional ice maker kit number is listed on a sticker attached there. Also most ice maker kits are purchased from the ref selling dealer at the time of the ref purchase and the dealer can also put in a correct ice maker kit part number request through the manufacturer's sales dept.
