Janet H for Model Number amana top load washer...old! Hi. I just went thru all the changing out of the idler pulley, the idler pulley spring, and the best. Lets just say it wasnt easy...so anyways, the new belt has melted in less than two weeks. It may have started before this but today I smelled the burning rubber. I took off the panel and the belt is burned. I did notice that the new idler pulley spring did not hold the idler where it was supposed to and the spring was flimsy. The first time I ran the spin cycle, I had to push the pulley just so it would start to catch the belt. I opted to use the old pulley and it worked like it should. I would prefer to fix this washer if possible. I was wondering if anyone could help me attempt to find the problem. Thanks so much!
Answer Hello Janet. It sounds like the tub bearings are bad in the unit and will need to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, August 20, 2014
