By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18033078
Manufacturer Part Number: WP74007966

This broil burner ignitor lights the broil flame in your oven for fast, even broiling. Replacing a weak or failed ignitor restores reliable ignition and consistent high-heat performance when starting broil. What it does

  • Provides the ignition source for the oven's broil burner
  • Works with the range's ignition system to light the broil flame
  • Typical symptoms include the broiler not igniting or heating, intermittent lighting, or repeated ignition attempts without flame
  • Visual clues of failure can include a cracked ceramic insulator, damaged tip, or burnt/frayed lead
What's included
  • 1 broil burner ignitor assembly
Install notes
  • Disconnect power and shut off gas; allow the appliance to cool completely before service
  • Access the broil burner at the top of the oven; remove any shields/panels and note the ignitor's original position and bracket orientation
  • Handle the ceramic/tip carefully; avoid impact, route the lead away from hot surfaces, and make secure electrical connections
  • Restore gas and power, then test broil to verify prompt ignition and a steady flame

Jay for Model Number MGR6772BDS

I cannot get the broil function to work on my gemini double oven. Originally, I had nothing working but have since replaced the upper bake ignitor with one that i purchased from you. I accidentally replaced the broil ignitor with the other bake ignitor I purchased from you. The old broil ignitor is now in the lower bake oven. Both ovens now work for bake. I have also replaced the board. 1) Is there actually a difference between the bake and broil ignitors other than the plug? 2) I do not get power at the board, (yellow broil wire, terminal 3) To send power to the ignitor. Is there something else in the start sequence that is keeping the ignitor from firing?

Answer

Hi Jay. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. The physical size of the igniter and the mount are the same. the o.e.m. part # is different because the amp draw and properties of the igniters are different one from the next. The amp draw will be slightly different. Make sure you use a volt meter to see if there is any voltage output from the clock yellow broil terminal. If the broil igniter clock relay does not have the output then you need to check for the tightness and correct connection. You can test the # 3 clock connector terminal and see if the voltage output is OK. If not then the clock is part # WP5701M576-60. Put the yellow wire on the # 5 clock terminal and see if then when you press bake the if the broil does now light up is a quick way to see if the igniter and the wires are good. Thank You.
