Chucky August 16, 2023 for Model Number JGR8890ADP The ignitor is glowing but the broil cycle still isn't heating.. how can I test the igniter?
1 Answer Chucky, as the broil ignitor WP74007966 is glowing, it is receiving voltage and is the most likely cause of failure. However, the wires at the safety valve for the broil line can be tested. If there is not a voltage reading between 3.2 to 3.6 VAC, the ignitor has failed. Read More...

1 Answer Shirley, Part number WP7432P143-60 will be the bake igniter and the other will be for the broil. Ceramic nuts should be available at a local hardware store or someplace like home depot. Read More...
Ralph March 26, 2017 for Model Number MGR6775ADB I see a reply to one of the questions that says check for 120 VAC. Could this be a mistake? My broiler igniter works fine but my upper oven broiler does not heat up. Both measure approximately 9 VAC when off and 12 VAC when on. Also, I noticed in your part names, the part for the broiler is spelled "ignitor" and the part for the upper oven is spelled "igniter". I did not find an igniter for the lower oven. Made it a bit difficult to determine that I was selecting the correct part.
1 Answer Hello Ralph. No, the ignitors in these units are 120 VAC. You will need to make sure you have your meter set to the correct reading to see if the voltage is good. Should be 120 VAC. Read More...
John December 11, 2016 for Model Number mgr6775 Hello, I was going to order two ignitors for our Maytag double oven MGR6775 but started thinking what would be the odds of both the broiler and oven ignitor elements going out at the exact same time in the upper oven? Could this happen or do you think it could be something else. The bottom oven works fine. Any thoughts. Thank you
1 Answer John, This issue would most likely not be caused by the igniters but would be more likely a issue with the control board on the unit. You can test the igniter for 120 vac getting to it and if there is no power the control is the issue. If there is power then it would be the igniter Read More...
Jim March 15, 2015 for Model Number MGR6772BDW My broiler will enventually light but it takes up to 15 min to ignite. Am I looking at an igniter problem or some thing else? The oven heats just fine.
1 Answer Hello Jim. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the igniter WP74007966 is bad and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Mark August 01, 2012 for Model Number mgr6875ads Purchased new ignightor old one the wire was broke put the new one in turned oven on and it wasnt working just before the oven quit working I heard a loud pop I assumed it was that wire that broke that made that noise maybe something else caused that ignitor to short out help
1 Answer Hello Mark. If the wire shorted, it has damaged the control board WP5701M802-60 and the control board will need to be replaced with the igniter in the unit. Read More...
Jay April 06, 2012 for Model Number MGR6772BDS I cannot get the broil function to work on my gemini double oven. Originally, I had nothing working but have since replaced the upper bake ignitor with one that i purchased from you. I accidentally replaced the broil ignitor with the other bake ignitor I purchased from you. The old broil ignitor is now in the lower bake oven. Both ovens now work for bake. I have also replaced the board. 1) Is there actually a difference between the bake and broil ignitors other than the plug? 2) I do not get power at the board, (yellow broil wire, terminal 3) To send power to the ignitor. Is there something else in the start sequence that is keeping the ignitor from firing?
1 Answer Hi Jay. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. The physical size of the igniter and the mount are the same. the o.e.m. part # is different because the amp draw and properties of the igniters are different one from the next. The amp draw will be slightly different. Make sure you use a volt meter to see if there is any voltage output from the clock yellow broil terminal. If the broil igniter clock relay does not have the output then you need to check for the tightness and correct connection. You can test the # 3 clock connector terminal and see if the voltage output is OK. If not then the clock is part # WP5701M576-60. Put the yellow wire on the # 5 clock terminal and see if then when you press bake the if the broil does now light up is a quick way to see if the igniter and the wires are good. Thank You. If you are needing the bake ignitor you will use part number W11596211. Hope this information helps you, thanks! Read More...
David August 16, 2011 for Model Number MGR6751BDB The upper oven will light when broil is selected, but not when bake is chosen. The ignitor doesn't even glow when in bake mode. Is this the ignitor? Would that be AP4096684 part number?
1 Answer Hello David. You will need to test and see if power is coming to the igniter. If so, and the igniter does not come on, you will need to replace the igniter W11596211. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
