Janie for Model Number KGRT600HBL5 I think I need an ignitor...but is there one for the oven and one for the broiler or does one control both? I think 2? Sometimes the oven heats to temp (but it may take long!) some times I have to shut it off and on a couple times. The broiler does not flame.... The ignitor that I can see on the top of the oven is red but NO flame comes out of the broiler holes.... Should I buy 2 ignitors? I do not have one of those testers and I couldn't afford the 40 dollars they wanted for one at Lowes... I was going to buy a new range but I do not like any of them and have decided to try and fix this one...When I first got it new the service guy (under warrantee) came and replaced the ignitor a couple times...It was the same problem then as now so that is why I think it is the ignitor..Thanks for any help... janie
Answer Janie, Both the upper and lower burner has an individual igniter. To determine if the igniter is the issue you will need to test the safety valve to see if it is getting proper voltage. Test for 3.2-3.6 vac at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
