Don for Model Number sce30600w The dual element doesn't work at all. How do I know if it is a bad switch or element? If it is the switch, why are there two (part 9a & 9b) switches shown? Both have the same part number. Help!
Answer Don, You would want to conduct a circuit test of the switches( or a voltage test) to see if the switch operates and has the correct circuits, with a multi meter TJMA-DMT3 The infinite switch is the more likely issue, but you could have a problem in the burner or wiring. Since you mentioned the issue was with the dual element, That switch has been substituted to one part number12002125 and will work on all versions of that style range. To access the infinite switches, you will need to remove the control panel assembly " Remove power to the range. Open the oven door as wide as possible. Remove the four(4), 1/4 in. hex head screws from the bottom of the control panel. Grasp the control panel on both sides and carefully pull out and down to disengage." You can then remove the switch knobb and the two(2) screws that mount the switch to the control panel and remove it from the console. Label each wire and disconnect the wire from the terminals, re move and test the switch circuits.heres some meter usage information should you need it, [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html].
