Symptoms of a bad infinite switch include:

  • Difficulty in adjusting the burner temperature
  • The switch feeling loose, stuck, or unresponsive

ref: Dual Infinite switch kit rewiring purchased your repair kit and on your instruction sheet for repair part# 12002125, there are 3 wiring options at the bottom of the page, depending on the existing original switch connection. the three options are if I have an a) compound connection b) L2 piggyback connection c) other my problem is I don't know the difference between a COMPOUND connection or a PIGGYBACK connection - I don't know how either of them look - therefore I don't know which of the rewiring instructions to follow please advise me on how to determine what my current connection is, using the following wire scheme from my existing switch connection: (L1, 2) = 2 BLACK wires to one terminal (5, P) = 1 BLACK wire to light (H2, 4) = YELLOW wire (L2) = 3 RED wires to 2 terminals, whereas the 2 terminals are fused together as 1 single contact ..... ie: 2 RED wires to 1 terminal 1 RED wire to 1 terminal (H1, 3) = 1 PINK wire ref # on instruction sheet is 16023363 dual infinite switch 74008248 please reply to both of the following emails: martin@twist.tc drewthomason1@gmail.com 502.554.4642 cell Martin Twist or Drew Thomas Thank you for your help

Answer

Hello Martin, The way to hook this switch up is the 2 red will go to P2 and the single red will go to 2. You will have a jumper wire that goes from P1 to S1. Double black wire will go to P1 Single black to S2. Yellow will goe to H2 or 4a and Tan will go too H1 or 4.
