Hello Tim, Discontinue power to the unit and verify that the power has in fact been turned off. This will prevent the possibility of electrocution. Disconnect the downdraft duct under the unit to allow the unit to be pulled up. Place towels on either side of the unit folded to prevent damage to the counter top. Now lift the unit and turn it diagonal to the counter top opening and allow it to rest there. Remove the screws around the edges of the cook top and around the inside of the vent area. The top should raise up at this point.
