John for Model Number MDB6600AWB My Maytag door latch has failed. Upon inspection, I found the black plastic handle portion of the latch assembly broken at the hinge. Also, the mating hinge point which appears to be moleded as part of the outer control panel appears broken (small black plastic pieces found between panel and insulation. Question: Do I need both the outer control panel #99002784 and the complete latch assembly #99002580 or contol panel and just the black plastic handle #99002577. Anything to watch for when dissassembling the outer control panel?
Answer Hello John. You can reassemble the latch without the black plastic tabs. The screws hold the latch in place. I would recommend replacing the complete latch assembly WPW10130695. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, May 24, 2011
