Al for Model Number GMC305PRQ01 My Whirlpool Gold microwave works fine but it makes a buzzing noise on load when in power level 10. In power level 1, the noise is intermittent. It seems to buzz only when the "microwaves" are emitted. I think my magnetron may be going out on its last leg. Am I breaking anything else if I continue to use it until it no longer heats up or do I need to replace the magnetron now? Do I really have a magnetron problem or something else?
Answer Hello Al, When you hear a low frequency growl during heating cycles of the microwave, this is an indication of a failing high voltage transformer WP4375286. I never change one without changing the high voltage capacitor WP4375020 and the high voltage diode WPW10687786. Since they are in the same circuit, they get electrically stressed and replacing them at the same time will save the new high voltage transformer. Read More...
