Dale December 05, 2021 for Model Number KBMS 1454 SSS-3 Unit stopped heating. Everything else works. Paid a technician 200 and he said no voltage from main board to transformer, Recommended main board rebuild/replacement. I sent the board for rebuild and re-installed and still no heating. I just ordered a new capacitor and diode. The number on the magnetron is 2M167B-M16. I can only find this part used on ebay. Any cross reference for this part or do you sell a replacement? Going to attempt to replace the capacitor, diode and magnetron myself. It has been unplugged for a couple of weeks and the capacitor seems to have no voltage.
Phillip June 09, 2018 for Model Number Kenmore Elite convection micro and convection lower oven My Micro oven sometimes heat the food and sometimes does not It sounds like it is working, no other noises but after a few tries it will heat. Please help, It could save my marriage.
1 Answer Phillip, first thing we need is a model number of your microwave, that way we can check for any service bulletins or technical notes to advise and direct you to properly diagnose the machine. In most cases, the high voltage components in a microwave either work or don't work, They aren't intermittent, that often. In the mean time, you may want to look at and check the door switches and wiring and look at the control board to see if there are any dark/burnt spots or cracks in the board. Read More...
Gil March 27, 2018 for Model Number Whirlpool WMH76718A0 Micro will not heat...But I Do Not have a buss sound or any noise...it operates, just does not heat. When we initially hit the start button, SOMETIMES there is a small spark. DO I need a diode , a magnetron, or both?
1 Answer Gil, You will want to check the door switches to make sure that they are good. If the door switches are good the test the magnetron for less than 1 ohm of resistance. If it is not less than 1 ohms then it is faulty. Read More...
Tonyh August 27, 2017 for Model Number KBMS1454ssss-0 I turned on the microwave which worked previously an hour or so before .We put an item in the unit and a no heat indicator scrolled across display screen. It did not make any noises or smells. It also did not heat the food.
1 Answer TonyH, This issue will most likely be caused by the relay on the control board of the unit being bad which will require a bad control board. Read More...
N June 16, 2017 for Model Number GMC305PRS01 I am being told i need to replace a magnetron, how long can i reasonably expect a replacement part like this to last? I am between replacing the combined unit and repair.
1 Answer N. There is no set timeframe of how long a new magnetron would last. Here is our return policy. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/customerservice/returns.aspx Read More...
Carol S January 23, 2017 for Model Number Wmh1163xvq-1 5 yr old Whirlpool microwave is not heating & I've reset the power at the control electrical box, & also checked the electrical plug above the microwave. I checked to be sure the "control lock" is off. Is there anything else I can check before calling for a repair tech?
1 Answer Carol, You could test the magnetron for less than 1 ohm of resistance. If the reading is not correct then the magnetron is faulty and would need replaced. Also check the thermostat on the magnetron for continuity. No continuity means it is defective. Read More...
Fred April 09, 2016 for Model Number WMH31017AB-2 My microwave seems to be having intermittent heating issues. I am pulling 10.3 amps during use. As I understand, it should be closer to 14.0. Would the low amp draw indicate a bad magnetron?
1 Answer Hello Fred, Output test: 1. Fill the measuring cup with 2 cups (500 mL) of 70ºF (21ºC) tap water. 2. Stir the water with the thermometer to ensure uniform temperature. Add warm or cool water to bring the water to the correct temperature. 3. Place the measuring cup in the center of the microwave oven cavity. 4. Operate the microwave oven on high power for 1 minute. 5. Remove the measuring cup and stir the water with the thermometer for about 20 seconds. 6. Record the temperature of the water. 7. Refer to the model serial tag on the microwave oven to acquire wattage output rating of the microwave oven. 8. Using the chart on the tech sheet, determine if the output of the microwave oven is within the range listed based on the line voltage and wattage rating of the microwave oven. Read More...
John January 03, 2016 for Model Number GH7145XFB1 My microwave just started to make the very loud noise which vibrates as well and I noticed it smelled on the inside. It also stopped heating. This was very sudden. It has never given me an minutes issue but now I cant use it. What would it be? I know it can be one of three things. I don't know if I should buy a new one or just put in the parts. Should I take it to a repair man (because a house call would cost a fortune). Is it worth repairing or replacing? BTW I don't know how to work on these things and don't know how to discharge anything to get it ready for repair. I do know how to replace pull it out and I am sure I can replace the parts by myself but what would you say is the best option at this point. The microwave is 16 years old. Would the capacitor make this kind of noise or would it be the Magnetron? The high voltage capasitor either works or it doesn't right? Isn't like a coil on a car, it either works or it doesnt? Please HELP
1 Answer Hello John. You most likely have a "high voltage" side malfunction. Transformer, diode, magnetron, Capacitor. You will need to be extremely careful if you decide to test the components with a multi meter, Very high residual voltage is present, so make sure you remove power to the microwave and short across the terminals on the capacitor. The magnetron should have a reading of less than 1 ohm resistance across the two terminals, and an "open" circuit between each terminal and chassis ground. The diode/rectifier should have a resistance reading in one direction only, no resistance, or resistance in both directions indicate a faulty diode. The primary winding on the transformer should read approximately 450 Ohms resistance, the secondary winding should read 80 ohms resistance, and the filament transformer should read 100 ohms resistance. All of these are +- 10%. If all the readings are proper and in range, replace the magnetron. Read More...
Jerry July 12, 2015 for Model Number mmv6180ww While using the convection microwave option the unit stopped functioning about 8 minutes in. Checked the fuses and no continuity. I'm going to replace it, anything else I should check? From what I have seen on the internet these units have not been too reliable.
1 Answer Hello Jerry. If the fuse is blown, you will need to check the door switches on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Pat June 07, 2015 for Model Number mmv6180ww-1 When the microwave is started up there are sparks coming out of plate on inside on the right side. What could this be?
1 Answer Hello Pat, Moisture has entered the end of the magnetron tube. To correct this issue, the magnetron W10245183 and magnetron cover, (if moisture is present), will have to be replaced. Read More...
