Part Number: OEM9416523
Manufacturer Part Number: 285811

The medium cam agitator repair kit is an OEM part for Whirpool washers. It includes 4 agitator dogs, a medium length cam, a cap seal, a washer for the agitator bolt, and a thrust washer.

Symptoms of a bad part:

  • The agitator not working or turning
  • Loud grinding or clicking noises during the wash cycle
  • Clothes not being thoroughly cleaned or rinsed

Causes of a faulty agitator system can include normal wear and tear over time, exposure to excessive loads or unbalanced loads, or physical damage due to impact or mishandling.

Whirlpool recommends using a small amount of grease with this kit (if no grease is present on the old thrust washer). For the Whirlpool agitator grease, order 350849. For the long cam, order 285748. For the short cam, order 285809

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Answer

Hello Teresa and thank you for your question. If there is a pop every time the fill level is reached, it could be caused by the pressure sensor, the timer, or even the motor depending on where the pop is coming from, which could cause the unit to not run. If it is coming from the top along with the odor, it would be recommended that the back panel of the console be removed and the components inspected for any indication of damage. If there is not an evident indicator, the washer can be operated to observe where the pop might be occurring.
