Chris for Model Number Kenmore 80 series dryer

Hi, I hate the buzzer on this model dryer, especially when running the auto-dry cycle. It goes off for 5-6 seconds and it's soooo loud. Wakes the baby. The unit functions fine and it's not malfunctioning. I just hate the way it functions. This model does not have an option to turn off the buzzer. Two wires feed it: tan and black. What would be the harm in just removing the buzzer and taping the leads up? Would I need to splice them together first? I'd like to remove or disable the buzzer. Thanks

Answer

Hello Chris, We might be able to assist you in the wiring of this unit if we had the model number from the units' I.D. tag. Without a wiring diagram, we cannot tell if this would disable any features of the unit or not. You would definitely not want to splice the wires together as this would create a dead short which would trip the breaker when the buzzer should sound and might possibly cause a fire hazard and/or cause damage to the unit.
