George L. for Model Number ET8MTMXKQ00 The condenser fan motor housing has a black greasy substance on it and the same black greasy substance appears on the floor under the fan. The fan seems to be functioning and makes no noise. I'm guessing this is the fan motor lubricant and I can't imagine it's normal for it to be bleeding out. Should this motor be replaced, or should I wait for it to fail completely?
Answer Hello George, You should double check and make sure this is not a Freon leak. When Freon leaks, a bit of the compressor oil will leak out with it. It will spray from a Freon line and will shoot out in any direction. A small leak can cause this issue and will soon begin to affect the units' cooling ability. If this is not the issue replacing the condenser fan motor W10822259 would be a good idea before you begin to lose any food inside the unit. Read More...
