The condenser fan motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It plays a vital role in circulating refrigerant through the condenser coils, facilitating heat exchange and maintaining the refrigerator's cooling efficiency.

Over time, the motor-condenser can wear out or fail due to electrical issues, mechanical wear, or blockages in the condenser system. A malfunctioning motor can compromise the refrigerator's cooling performance, leading to temperature fluctuations and increased energy consumption.

Symptoms of a bad Motor-Condenser include:

  • The refrigerator not cooling properly
  • Unusual noises coming from the back of the refrigerator
  • The compressor running continuously
  • Increased energy bills due to inefficient operation
  • Overheating of the refrigerator

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Condenser Fan Motor (Part Number: OEM17955453)

Gary for Model Number TS22AFXKQ05

This is a side by side. I have noticed the area between the doors on front has been warm to the touch. So I cleaned the coil as much as I can. I took the cardboard cover off the lower back and the fan wasn't turning. I spun it with my fingers and it spun for a few minutes by itself and stopped. The motor looks like the pictures here on this listing. I watched your video on how to replace it. Your video shows a metal fan but mine is a plastic fan. Am I looking at the wrong item on your website?

Gabor, This is not a serviceable part and based on the description of the issue it would need to be replaced.

Baffled for Model Number 106.52604100

Existing condenser motor (Panasonic UDQR003W7 making noise. Metal fan blade held on to shaft by a nut. Motor is mounted to a substantial metal bracket by two screws - the heads of the screws are on the shaft (fan) side of the motor and extend through the fan housing (front to back of the motor) and then screws into the metal bracket. Ordered/received W10124096 kit. (very promptly i might add) Don't see any way of mounting the new motor to the metal bracket surrounding the motor without drilling new holes in the metal bracket. Metal bracket is very similar to ones shown in some of your videos for the round metal condenser motor except it has two holes and not three .Can i remove the two metal screws that are on the backside of the new motor (Panasonic FDQR107W5) that came with the kit and then mount using those two holes? I really would like to have a metal fan instead of the press fit plastic one. I have ordered a lot of part from Appliance Parts Pros over the years and have always been very pleased with the exact fit. Don't let me down!

Baffled, it is not recommended that the two screws in the back of the fan motor are removed as this can disrupt the motor spacing. As there are not three mounting holes on the fan bracket WP2181929, it may need to be replaced as it has been revised to accommodate the condenser motor fan W10124096.

Donald, The 2 pin would connect to the red wire on the condenser fan motor and the 2 white will go to the white wire on the condenser motor. The green wire will go to ground.

Tony, It does sound like the fan motor would need to be replaced. If the fan blade on the current fan motor is metal then yes it will work for the new fan motor.

Hello George, You should double check and make sure this is not a Freon leak. When Freon leaks, a bit of the compressor oil will leak out with it. It will spray from a Freon line and will shoot out in any direction. A small leak can cause this issue and will soon begin to affect the units' cooling ability. If this is not the issue replacing the condenser fan motor W10822259 would be a good idea before you begin to lose any food inside the unit.

Jeff S. for Model Number Kitchenaid KTRC22E

This morning I replaced the water inlet valve (thanks for the help on that one, new one is working great). All the time I was checking out the rear compartment I had the power turned off. But today I plugged the refrigerator in before putting the back cover on so I could run water into a glass, testing the valve. When the compressor was running I noticed that the compressor cooling fan wasn't turning. I unplugged the refrigerator and tried to spin the fan by hand but it was pretty stiff. Plugged the refrigerator in and the fan still didn't turn. Before ordering a new fan motor, please confirm that any time the compressor is running the fan should be turning. If so, it appears I need a new motor, I believe the one above. Thanks you.

1 Answer

Jeff, Yes the condenser fan motor should be running at the same time as the compressor is running in order for it to pull air across the condenser and compressor to cool them.

Scott P, Yes this would be caused by the fan starting to go bad or a possible bent blade that is hitting.
