Baha for Model Number MBL2258XES3 I have a Maytag with a freezer bottom. The freezer is working but the upper fridge is not cooling. I cleaned out the dust from bottom of the refrigerator. After removing the back panel of the inside of freezer, I noticed there was a huge block of ice to the upper right side where the Cover, Fz Thermistor would be. The fan seemed to be working. There was no ice blocking the airway going up to the fridge. I had thought that after melting out that ice with the hair dryer, it would do the work. So I put everything back together. It seemed that the fridge was about to start cooling, but it was very weak. I checked the fridge later and it still wasn't getting cool. Is it possible that the motor evaparator still has to be changed even if it was spinning the fan? Or is it something else that is causing the problem?
Answer Baha, If the evaporator fan motor was running slowly then yes it would need to be replaced but you will want to check the damper assembly in the top back of the refrigerator compartment to make sure that it is opening. This would be more likely the cause of the failure. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, February 23, 2016
