Gary B. for Model Number mff2558veb5 how do i know if the evaporator motor is shot? i have ice that accumulates in the bottum of the freezer and has to be removed every 2 days. the unit is 2 years old. it is not the ice maker as i disconnected it and still get the ice build-up. what do you think?
Answer Gary, Were the issue a "shot" evaporator fan, you'd have frost or ice on the back wall and on the air grill of the freezer compartment. It actually sounds more like a clogged defrost drain tube, or an air leak at the bottom of the freezer door. You'll need to remove the freezer back wall and check for an ice build up under the evaporator. You may need to use a few towels and hot water to clear the ice and drain tube of the blockage.
