Nick for Model Number MDB6650AWW Hello, My dishwasher is leaking somewhere around the pump seal. As far as I can tell it is limited to the pump seal part or the the jacket surrounding motor shaft. Neither of the parts looked all that damaged. Is there something specific I should be looking for on these parts that fail? I have ordered the impeller seal kit in order to replace the pump seal and impeller which got a little dinged up during disassembly. If this doesn't work, do you sell a piece part of the motor pump assembly that includes this sleeve?
Answer Nick, You have everything you'll need to repair the leak from the pump motor shaft. Most of the time, a motor shaft seal fails because of Glass or Debris, getting under the impeller and cutting the seal, so you do want to make sure you clean or vacuum out the pump assembly, before you reassemble it. You may want to use a thin coat of silicone sealer or rubber cement on the bottom portion of the seal, where it seats in the housing but be careful, not too much, and make sure the seal seats evenly and tightly in the housing.
