Justin September 13, 2016 for Model Number PDB3600AWE I recently replaced the the motor shaft seal and impeller due to a leak above the motor. That seemed to fix the problem for the most part, but I'm still getting very small puddles after doing a load, maybe about 3-4 inches in diameter. Is there something else I can do to make sure the seal is sealed? Is there somewhere else the leak could be coming from. I already took everything apart again and gave the seal another couple good presses down to make sure it was seated in there, and I did vacuum it out before I put it in. Is there something I can add to really make sure there's a good seal and stop this leak?
1 Answer Hello Justin. You will need to watch the unit while it is running and locate the reason of the leak. The seal may not be seated good if it is leaking from there. Read More...
George January 19, 2016 for Model Number MDC5100AWB Lower washer arm does not move freely does not spin.
1 Answer George, You will want to check the pump assembly and make sure that there is nothing in the pump assembly that would cause the unit to not pump water properly. Check the impeller for damage fins. Make sure that the screens are clean and that the spray arm is not clogged. If this checks ok then the upper discharge housing would most likely be the issue. Mandi April 08, 2015 for Model Number DU945PWST0 My dishwasher started making a very loud noise, grinding type noise. It still worked. Now it won't clean anything and the water is leaking around motor. I followed video instructions for checking the impeller seal thing and the plastic shafts has broken off. If I replace the impeller and drain seal is that going to fix it? I'm renting and don't want to spend a lot of money on something that I don't own. Please let me know what to do to fully fix it. Thank you in advance for your timely response. Model number is DU945PWST0
1 Answer Mandi, If the shafts of the impeller are broken off then the impeller seal kit would be the part that would need to be replaced. The part number for the impeller seal kit is WP6-915435. Read More...
Jr November 19, 2014 for Model Number MDB7100AWB Please reference the Motor and Pump diagram. It seems like there is conflicting information regarding the Pump Seal. I ordered the Impeller Seal Kit #10 which includes a pump seal. However, if I go to the pump seal itself on the page #24, the description references that if you have a pump seal with a spring go to part #12001489. My old pump seal has a spring. Can I use the Impeller Seal Kit #10 and the seal included in it even though my old seal has a spring?
1 Answer JR, You should be able to use the tub seal that is in the packaging that you received for part number WP6-915435. Read More...
Tom August 02, 2014 for Model Number MDB7100AWW I recently started having a leak. After reading your site I bought the impeller seal replacement kit. I've taken everything apart, but found that my check ball was missing when I took the drain cover off. Is this normal? Could it be the source of some of my problems (i.e. dirty on my dishes)? I also can't find a replacement for a Maytag. Will it be okay to replace it with a Whirlpool check ball? Thank you!
1 Answer Tom, With the check ball missing, this could be causing the dishes to not get clean. You will want to replace with check ball part number WP99002281. Read More...
Annette April 06, 2014 for Model Number mdb7100awq I can't seem to remove the wash impeller after I removed the screw.
1 Answer Annette, Quite often the impeller will seize to the motor shaft. If you can't remove it once the screw is removed, you'll need to CAREFULLY break or cut the impeller off the shaft. Read More...
Bob January 11, 2014 for Model Number mdb7100aws Dishwasher was leaking from pump area. I took it apart, lots of rust and I had to break the impellers to get them off. It looks like there was some sort of plastic sleeve on the motor shaft that I broke off also. When I pulled the motor out, it looked like a curved plastic washer, sitting above the drip tray, and would extend up into the washer. Do I need to replace this part if I buy seal kit, 1469486. Or do i need a new motor assembly? Thanks in advance for help.
1 Answer Bob, The impeller seal kit should take care of the leaking issue for your unit. The seal is the part that would the curved plastic type washer that you found. Read More...
Nick March 01, 2013 for Model Number MDB6650AWW Hello, My dishwasher is leaking somewhere around the pump seal. As far as I can tell it is limited to the pump seal part or the the jacket surrounding motor shaft. Neither of the parts looked all that damaged. Is there something specific I should be looking for on these parts that fail? I have ordered the impeller seal kit in order to replace the pump seal and impeller which got a little dinged up during disassembly. If this doesn't work, do you sell a piece part of the motor pump assembly that includes this sleeve?
1 Answer Nick, You have everything you'll need to repair the leak from the pump motor shaft. Most of the time, a motor shaft seal fails because of Glass or Debris, getting under the impeller and cutting the seal, so you do want to make sure you clean or vacuum out the pump assembly, before you reassemble it. You may want to use a thin coat of silicone sealer or rubber cement on the bottom portion of the seal, where it seats in the housing but be careful, not too much, and make sure the seal seats evenly and tightly in the housing. Don F. June 04, 2012 for Model Number jbd8910aws My dishwasher is noisy when it goes into the drain cycle. It Drains but is noisy. It isn't noisy during the fill or wash cycle.
1 Answer Hello Don, This sounds like a foreign object has made it's way into the drain pump. Sometimes you can remove the drain pump and fish the object out of it. If you can't get it out, the drain pump will have to be replaced. I would include the part number but the model number you provided needs to be verified. Read More...
