Gary for Model Number Whirlpool dishwasher GU1500XTKT0 My dishwasher started making more noise than usual. Not real loud, just more of a whine than it used to. I disassembled it enough to find the chopper was broken and the pump sump screen is partially clogged. I will replace the chopper. I want to remove the motor to clean the pump screen and inspect the impeller. I hoping that cleaning the screen will fix it and I don't have to replace the motor. My question is, can I remove and reinstall the motor with the existing volute gasket, or should I replace the gasket with a new one? That is, is reusing the gasket likely to cause a leak?
Answer Hello Gary. You can remove it and use the old gasket. However, most likely it is the motor bearing making noise, not the chopper. But it is worth a try. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, October 15, 2013
