Mickey B. for Model Number 665 16029401 I have a Kenmore dishwasher. The dishwasher would not run smelled burning so I replaced the motor. It now starts up fine half way through the cycle it make a loud noise and vibrates. It happens late in the cycle while on sensing. Do I need to replace the sump also?
Answer Hello Mickey, It sounds like a foreign object such as a piece of broken glass may be in the pump. The same noise can also be a bad winding in the motor or the voltage supplied to the motor can be missing a phase. If you didn't replace the sump, it could also be an item wrapped around the pump impeller, which would make it out of balance to spin evenly. This sort of problem is usually located by dis-assembly.
