John W for Model Number KSSC36QTS03 The auger motor is running but not engaging the drive shaft to the ice bucket thus not dispensing ice. I removed the motor (it has no apparent wear or play in the shaft receptacle) then checked if there was any slippage or sloppiness in the shaft assembly all the way up top the auger-there was no rotational play, it drove the auger shaft in both directions using a 3/8" socket & wrench at both ends, it seems intact. However, there is vertical play-when I push up on the shaft assembly there is about 1/4"-1/2" of movement, then it engages the auger (ice bucket now back in place). But with the motor re-attached, the shaft assembly drops down the same distance and is now disengaged. I suspect a coupling but I'm not sure what needs to be removed to look at it. Your thoughts please, thanks...John
Answer John, When you pull the ice bin off of the unit and remove the 2 screws that are under it. Lift the little cover off and pull the shaft out of the door. On the end that you pull out, there is a coupling to keep the shaft from sliding down to far. If you flip the shaft over and put the shaft into the hole with the short part down and then tap on the other end of the shaft to allow the coupling to be a little further down on the shaft and then reassembly and try to dispense. It may take a few adjustments to get just right but this is how you would need to correct issue. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, July 24, 2013
