Al for Model Number MVWC700VW1 The spin cycle on this Maytag direct drive washer is intermittent. Agitation is fine, Water fill and pump out is fine. Lid switch has continuity and all cycles work except final spin - clothes are left wet in washer. If I open the lid and manually turn the inner tub clockwise or counterclockwise, then close the lid, the spin cycle engages. I can hear motor spinning at all times. Motor coupling is fine and not slipping on shaft. Clutch is not slipping. All suggestions are appreciated. Is this something in the gearcase and can the case be repaired? I see a neutral kit in the parts list, but am unsure of what it does. When I disassembled the washer, I turned the input shaft and the agitator shaft and clutch spun. What am I missing?.
Answer Al, If you are having to open the lid and then it will engage the spin cycle then the neutral drain is what would be the issue. The neutral drain is to keep the unit from spinning until the drain part of the cycle has finished. You will want to replace the neutral drain kit for this issue. Read More...
