Answer Sarah, The Radial bearing ring WP9742946 serves two purposes, it acts as a seal, to keep the water in the spray arm and produce a higher rate of force on the water to clean the dishes, and it acts as a "smooth" surface for the sprat arm to turn or rotate on.
