Karen for Model Number MDB7709AWS2 The plastic screw holder that holds the handle in place has broken off the back of the panel along with the plastic guides that hold the handle up. Dishwasher works perfectly, I took off the panel & found one of the plastic guides the screw holder was still attached to handle. I am trying some Sugru to reattach but the door has always been extremely hard to pull open since new (3yrs) so is my only alternative a whole new panel?
Answer Karen, Yes, your best option is to replace the panel. Gluing or epoxy the stand offs and guides back onto the panel will only be a temporary repair. You will also want to recheck the installation of the dishwasher. You may have to loosen the mounting tabs at the counter top and adjust the four leveling legs until the door opens and closes freely, the door could be out of alignment with the tub and causing the door to "drag" on the flange and make it hard to open.
