Phil S for Model Number kgys700gq1 this gas dryer recently stopped working. When cycle selection is made, the timer can be heard working, but the unit doesn't start when the start button is pushed. If cycled to the "Sensor Dry" cycle, the timer will run down. The unit will not turn on, though, until the timer reaches the "extra care" period. It then goes cycles through a drum spin and stop cycle -- no heat. I have continuity tested and confirmed OK the following: thermal fuse high-limit thermal fuse cycling thermostat Because the timer works and interior light goes on when the door is open and goes off when the door switch is depressed, I don't believe the issue is with the door switch. I'm down to the start switch, but am uncertain about what item (part #) to test next. When the unit is plugged in, the cycle selector is turned on and the start button is pushed, I hear a click. Again, the timer continues to function. Should I be looking at the start button relay?
Answer Phil, Your most likely issue is a faulty timer switch circuit WP3976570 or signal switch 3399638 Based on your post information, the start relay and door switch are OK, the timer advances, and the motor runs in the "extra care"setting. That pretty much limits the possibilities to a bad timer switch 4 or switch 0, the signal/guard switch is faulty(stuck contact). or the "white" wire to the motor is damaged or broken. Read More...
