Jason for Model Number built in 42" french door On my french door refrigerator there is a rail mullion. The mullion has metal contacts at the top and bottom. As I understand it this is a heated element that is inside the rail to help prevent condensation from building on the outside of the rail. When the unit is in the "energy saving" mode, the heating or power to the heating element is turned off. My question is, how much voltage is supposted to be supplied to the Rail between the contact ponts on the top and bottom of the rail? I ask because I would like to use a volt meter to test to ensure that it is working. I have had an abundant amount of moisture build up on the rail over the last few months. This is the first time this has ever happened in 5 years. Also the rail used to be a little warm to the touch before, now it is cold and have LOTS of moisture on it. Thanks for the help.
Answer Hello Jason, This is normally a 120Vac but this is a guess without the specific model number. I would check the resistance of the heater to see if it is open. If it isn't open, but shows a resistance, the issue has been narrowed down to the switch, the wiring or the power supply on the board. If it is open, the mullion heater is in need of replacement.
