  • Folds out of the way when a door opens; flips into place as the doors close
  • Helps limit moisture/sweating at the middle of the refrigerator
  • Replaces a cracked, loose, or broken mullion that causes air leaks, doors popping open, or poor sealing
What's included: One refrigerator door flipper mullion assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; remove door bins for access
  • Remove mounting screws; lift off the assembly and disconnect the harness if equipped
  • Transfer any end caps/brackets; ensure spring orientation and proper wire routing during reassembly
  • After installation, verify smooth flipping action and a continuous gasket seal down the center

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Door Flipper Mullion (Center Rail) (Part Number: OEM18047460)

Brian, unfortunately, the manufacturer has discontinued the mullion 12722811B and has not listed an approved substitute for it. As this is the case, we would not be able to recommend an alternative nor would we know where one could be obtained.

Evan for Model Number MFI2568AES

I have a 13-year-old Maytag ice2o french door bottom freezer refrigerator and the left side door has just recently started to not fully close every time on its own weight. The unit has not been moved and the doors are properly aligned, so I'm thinking the mullion may be the issue. When I manually open/close the rail mullion, I hear a plastic clicking noise at the bottom hinge. I don't know if it's always been there but the top hinge does not make this noise. Would you say replacing the rail mullion is likely to solve my issue?

Evan, the door mullion WPW10151713 clicking would be a sign of potentially failing, however, it would not prevent the door from closing by itself unless it does not rotate against the door when opened. The door closer WP67003639 at the bottom door hinge could cause this if it is damaged. If the closer is not damaged, then it may be the connection point in the door [12978002SQ] itself that may be failing.

Jimmy, the drawer will need to be removed to gain access to the rail. Once it is removed, there is a support bar that runs from the LH rail to the RH rail W11715934 that will need to be removed. Once the support bar is removed, there are two screws that hold the RH rail in place that would need to be removed, allowing for the rail to be changed out.

Hello Carl, If the doors were removed to move the unit into the room, there is the possibility that the door hinges could have been installed on the wrong sides, which will cause the doors to hang low, sometimes dragging the door liner a bit against the floor of the fresh food compartment. If this is not the issue, you should still check for the door dragging. If it is you can add a single washer to the bottom door hinge to raise the door enough to eliminate the issue. Other things you can do is to clean the door seals and lubricate the hinge side of the door seals with antibacterial soap. If this is done, only put it on the hinge side and only enough to give a wet appearance to avoid globs and a messy appearance.

Lea, When you look at the center there should be 1 or 2 screws that are located there. Remove these screws and lift up on the mullion. The top and bottom will slide onto a wide post that is on the door itself and slide down. Then put the screws back in place.

Colleen, If the mullion strip WPW10151713 is missing, you will want to check the left door liner and make sure the liner isn't damaged, cracked or broken If the liner is Ok, When you open the left refrigerator door, you will find "hinges" or "pivots" mounted to the door liner assembly, You will need to remove the two hex head screws holding the top pivot and the two screws holding the middle pivot. You can then raise the mullion strip up an inch and disconnect the wiring harness in the middle pivot, and change out the part. You may need the mounting screws W11311945, if they aren't there or have been discarded by mistake. The mullion strip, doesn't have anything to do with dispensing water, so you will need to check to see if the water tank is frozen, or the water valve has failed. Both parts are located behind the panel on the right side of the back wall of the refrigerator compartment.

Hello Darryl, If a new mullion rail WPW10151713 will not attach to the door, since the door liner is not available without the complete door assembly 12978002SQ, it will have to be ordered.
