Answer Thomas, We presume you have a MAV7650AWW, MTG automatic washer. The easiest way to test the brake is to start the unit in the regular cycle at the final spin / drain portion. Aloow the washer to "ramp up" to the high speed spin( 60 to 90 seconds) then raise the lid and listen, for a squealing or rumbling noise, this would indicate excess wear to the brake rotor pad. When you raise the lid, the washer spin basket should "stop" in 3 to 5 revolutions, if the brake is engaging properly. If there is a noise, or the spin tub coasts to a stop, you'll need to dismantle the thrust bearing assembly 12002213 and check, clean and lube the brake rotor splines WP35-6714 to insure proper rotor operation.
