Buddy for Model Number Maytag washer pav2300aww SN14136393AL I don't understand the response I got for: "This unit squeals when it stops. Without the agitator being in it does not squeal. The agitator appears to have a bearing in it that feels like it's missing a ball, but I cannot figure out how to get it out or if it comes out (pressed in). The washer stops as it should and runs properly though all cycles, but you recommended, "You will need to order and replace the brake 35-6714, stator 35-6918, and snubber 21002026 on the unit." However, the picture associated with the answer is the complete agitator. In the top of this agitator, where the bolt goes through, is what I think is a bearing that feels like it is missing a ball. It appears to be a pressed-fit bearing which is why I thought I might have to replace the complete agitator assembly. Please help me understand why I would replace the brake, stator and snubber when everything works properly except for a "squeal" that disappears when the agitator is removed. Thanks again
Answer Hello Buddy. There is no ball bearing used in the agitator. If you remove the cap and then remove the bolt and remove the agitator from the unit, the two sections of the agitator will unsnap from each other. As for the noise you were having, it is very common for the Performa models to have the noise you described and it is associated with the parts recommended. When you remove the agitator, you remove the stress on the brake and rotor, and the noise will go away. Keep in mind, Agitator is on one end of the shaft and brake is on the other. Read More...
