Bud for Model Number mvwc400vw1 centennial washer with low hours 5 years old. I asked the previous question on this about the tranny oil leaking into the clothes. (yesterday) Is there a chance that the control switch could have caused this? The clothes were spun dry but there was no water in the tub. The agitator was moving a little but the basket was not spinning at the time. Every time the agitator would move just a little, the machine would go 'thunk'. Then the agitator would move back and the process would repeat all over again. It stopped when I pushed the knob in, but no matter where I set the dial, it would still just go thunk, thunk, thunk when I pulled the knob back out. So I just pushed the knob back in until the timer quit ticking, and the machine worked fine for about a week until It started leaking black grease from under the agitator. My A107 Maytag is still running fine after 40 years of use. How can this transmission be so sorry that it fails after 5 years?
