Hello Eryn, You will need to fold the seal to find the center and place that in the4 direct center at the top of the tub assembly. Work your way down, being very careful not to stretch the seal during the installation of the part. When you get to the bottom, you will need to leave the excess folded toward the center. No excess should be trimmed off at all.
