Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dishwasher Door Seal (Part Number: OEM18043344)

Hello Eryn, You will need to fold the seal to find the center and place that in the4 direct center at the top of the tub assembly. Work your way down, being very careful not to stretch the seal during the installation of the part. When you get to the bottom, you will need to leave the excess folded toward the center. No excess should be trimmed off at all.

Hello Dee. Over time the lower door seals will break down and need to be replaced. It sounds like you need to order and replace the lower door seal 4172127.

Donna, The dishwasher leaking on the right side would most likely be caused by a bad door seal. You will want to check to make sure that the dispenser reservoir is not leaking but if not then the door seal would need to be replaced.

Sean, Probably not. You will need to check and make sure the dishwasher has not "shifted" in the cabinet, that all four feet are on the floor and the unit is level. You'll also need to check the door hinges were they attach to the door panel and make sure they aren't loose. Whenyou re install the inner door panel, make sure you use a criss cross pattern, when tightening the panel screws.

Hello Dennis, While the door seals are all similar, they are not all the same. If you could please list your model number, we can assist you in locating the correct one for your application.

Judd, it is either overfilling or has to much soap in it. Run the unit and look for suds and check the leve of water inside. The water should only fill to the bottom of the heater assembly. Hope this helps, thanks!

Steve, No replacing the door seal will not solve the leakage from the control/door panel area. You do want to check and make sure the water in the bottom of the tub does not exceed 140 dgrs. F. when it fills. You will need to remove the control panel and the outer door panel. Check the vent system for a proper mount to the door liner, a proper tight fit to the control panel and foam seal 6-919800 and 99002931 You'll also want to check the top level spray arm WP6-917644 for proper rotation, damage or distortion. It could be forcing the water into the vent and out the door panel. Good Luck and Thanks

Jeff for Model Number it uses part AP4114807 im fairly sure

I dont know the part number of my washer off hand (this is an old link i set up to these parts when the warranty ran out--i plan ahead a lot). The dishwasher vents steam when running, on either side of the latch area at the top--its really the far corners. I have hard water and the seal is caked with some deposits(have washed with white vinegar to try to clean it off). Is it possible that I need a latch kit, is the strike plate is coming forward, or is the latch mechanism wearing out? Do MAYTAGs have good service manuals?

Hi Ray. Yes, this is the usual fix. Door seal part # WP99002588. Feel the inner door panel to see if it has nicks that allow it to pass through the seal. Open the door. Use a paper towel to wipe the side of the inner door panel. Close the door and start it in reg. wash cycle.Let it wash for a minute or 2. (No-Soap) ! Then slowly open the door and see just where the water is escaping out onto the side of the inner door panel. Then you have found the leak area. Examine the door seal as you pull out the old one and then insert the new one in the same manner. Follow the ribs on the side for proper insertion. You carefully fold the seal in half and start at the top center under the dor latch then down the sides. There is usually just enough to have some folded fwd. at the bottom of the tub in the front. Don't sweat @ getting it exactly perfect. You may have to mark the side of the door latch at the point of where it touches the cabinet. Then you can use a 5/16" nut driver to loosen and adjust the latch. It naturally will be harder now to open and shut. Use 2- hands, as it will take a dozen or so cycles to "break- in" the new seal . Thank You.
