Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10181986

The Oven Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens, designed to accurately measure the oven's internal temperature and communicate it to the control board. This ensures that the oven maintains the desired temperature setting during baking or roasting, providing consistent cooking results.

Causes of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly can include exposure to high temperatures for prolonged periods, affecting the sensor's accuracy, electrical malfunctions like short circuits or wiring issues impacting its performance, and physical damage from cleaning or moving the oven compromising the sensor's integrity.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly include:

  • The oven does not heat to the set temperature
  • Over or undercooking of food
  • Error codes displayed on the oven's control panel

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Alex for Model Number GS460LELT

I had error code F3 E4 on my Whirlpool oven. I've read info on several forums which suggested to replace sensor. I bought sensor AP4326911 (W10181986) here at AppliancePartsPros.com. I replaced it - no help. I also switched top and bottom sensors - and got F3 E0. I then hard-wired both sensors. Still get F3 E0. It looks like I need to spend more money now ... on 'control' as per instructions sheet. I'm confused though. There are 3 items for 'control': 1. CNTRL-ELEC AP4433850 $300.63 2. Electronic control board AP4433849 $300.63 3. CNTRL-ELEC AP4433848 $251.93 Which one should I use ? Looks like #3 is just the board while #1 #2 are the front-panel + board ? How easy is to replace just the board ? My oven is bisque color btw. Should I spend $300 now - or buy a new oven ? What is the probability that new 'control' will not resolve F3 E0 and F3 E4 ? Thanks for any help.

Answer

Hi Alex. F3-E0 Oven sensor opened - Top 1. Measure sensor value (between connector pins) between 1000 O @ 32° F and 2697 O @ 900° F (room temperature approx. = 1080 O). If measurement does not correlate to real temperature, disconnect power, replace sensor and refer to steps 3-5. Also measure from sensor connector to sensor casing for possible short. 2. Trace wires and connectors to sensor from control, then from sensor back to control. If all connections are made and no wire damage, refer to step 3. 3. Disconnect power longer than 30 seconds. 4. Re-apply power and observe for longer than 1 minute. 5. If failure remains, disconnect power, replace control, then go back to step 4. E1 Oven sensor shorted - Top E2 Bake range over temperature E3 Clean range over temperature E4 Oven sensor opened - Bottom E5 Oven sensor shorted - Bottom. Oven sensor part # WPW10181986. Control part # is 4453605. Thank You.
