Thomas Our ice maker will not discharge ice. I have removed the unit and found ice inside the motor compartment. Also, the teflon coating in the ice mold is flaking off. The unit is two years old. Is there any recourse with the manufacturer regarding the teflon issue? Since there was ice in the motor compartment do you think there is permanent damage to the motor? Is it best to replace the entire unit?
Answer Hello Thomas, Normally the issue is caused by water conditions although not all the time. You could replace just the mold of the icemaker but may want to replace complete icemaker assembly. The motor could have been damaged along with other components such as the thermostat. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, January 23, 2013
