Answer Ralph, It's not likely a door stop or hinge problem. It is more likely to be a door closer WP12028505AP issue. The closer is seated on the hinge pin and there is a location pin that inserts into the opening on the hinge to "lock" it in place. If the closer is "dry}, or shifts up the location pin can break off and / or make a snapping noise. Check or replace the closer and lubricate liberally with silicone based grease or "Vaseline" .
