This door stop limits the door's travel to its intended range, helping prevent overextension that can stress hinges or damage adjacent cabinetry. Replacing a worn or broken stop restores smooth, controlled door operation.

  • Limits door opening/closing travel to protect hinges and alignment
  • Helps maintain proper seal and fit by preventing overextension
  • Replaces cracked, worn, or missing stop that allows excess movement
  • Typical symptoms include door opening too far, a hard "clunk" at full travel, or visible damage to the stop
What's included: 1 door stop Install notes:
  • Disconnect power; also shut off the water supply
  • Support the door while servicing the hinge/stop to avoid strain
  • Note the original orientation and transfer/secure fasteners firmly
  • Open/close the door slowly to ensure smooth movement and proper stop action

John, The "female" portion of the "door closer" assembly is internal to the door, and can't be replaced. You'll need to replace the door assembly, which are not available.

I just replaced the door closer on my ref rig hoping it would fix an issue with the door not closing as easily as it used to. part number: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-closer-12028505ap-ap4364680.html I don't see any difference in behavior. The old closer looked ok but the plastic ridges were a bit worn. Note, the door does not rise when opening and closing - could this be the problem and if so any recommendations? Also, the door used to close with little effort - no longer. I was looking at the stop-door part but I'm doubtful that is the solution. Thanks

Patricia, Unfortunately there is not a stopper that will keep the door from opening past the 90degree position. The only thing there is would be what is already on the unit.

Ralph, It's not likely a door stop or hinge problem. It is more likely to be a door closer WP12028505AP issue. The closer is seated on the hinge pin and there is a location pin that inserts into the opening on the hinge to "lock" it in place. If the closer is "dry}, or shifts up the location pin can break off and / or make a snapping noise. Check or replace the closer and lubricate liberally with silicone based grease or "Vaseline" .
