Lars for Model Number electrolux side by side fridge freezer model EW23CS65GS1 A technician came to repair my fridge /freezer exposed the evaporator and found no ice on it anywhere. His prognosis was "system problem/ leak". An other technician would have to repair. I was told that my fridge needs a new evaporator and heatexchanger which they would have to order before the come. the estimate was $800.00 plus and HSTax. What would be wrong with an evaporator and does no ice on the evaporator define the need to replace it.Should not all the sensors, defrost thermostat, defrost timer relay overload etc not be tested to make this prognosis. The fridge came with the house we bought in september and the icemaker was never used until ab out 2 weeks ago. I don't think it is related but the problem started than in effect freezer and fridge did not cool anymoe. You help would be welcomed thank you. Lars
Answer Hello Lars. If the compressor is running, and there is no frost, he diagnosed the unit correct. It is a sealed system issue with the unit. You will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit.
