Jujube for Model Number Whirlpool DWJR-ELE-2406026-FM54 The dryer is emitting a burning smell shortly after starting on any of the heated cycles (set on low temperature). On the fluff air cycle there is no smell. It is not a burnt rubber smell. Smells kinda like a hair dryer. We opened it up and vacuumed around the drum, the coils, the lint trap, etc., but it hasn't seemed to make a difference. The exhaust tube and the belt look fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
Answer Jujube, We don't expect you to have a problem. Especially if you have vacuumed out the dryer and heater assembly. A 5400 watt heater element can and will produce an odor as it is heating, regardless of temperature selected(high or low), and on air fluff, there is no power to the element, so no odor. In most cases the element odor is "masked" by fabric softener or fabric softener sheets, and you don't notice the odor. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 21, 2014
