Sim for Model Number gst9679pw3 I was having problems with my washing machine. First of all it needs to be tapped or banged on the left side when opened to begin again. It doesnt spin at all, although it does agitate. From everything I read it seems to be the lid switch. We just moved and the machine made problems since then. Also water was cominfg out from all sides of the tub but after my husband checked the hose and all it seems to be corrected although it may be coincidental. How do I know what problem it is?
Answer Hi. Sim. You can disconnect the lid switch wire connector and use a jumper wire to check if the lid switch part # WP8318084. Strip a 4" length of a 14 gauge wire back on each end approx 3/8". Then place them into the female pins of the washer wiring connector you unplugged. Make sure you do not jumper the ground connector (green wire) and create a short circuit. Make sure the lid is not concave and allowing the striker to not engage the lid switch. Pop it back out from the inside if so. Look at the leak carefully with a flashlight under the tub seal/bearing assy. to see if it leaks there or at the pump hoses. Clean the pump intake hose and Pump to insure proper drain so it allows the spin. Use washer magic monthly to insure proper performance levels. Thank You. Read More...
