The Door Latch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is designed to secure the washer door during operation, ensuring it remains closed and locked. This assembly is crucial for the safe and effective operation of the washing machine, preventing the door from opening mid-cycle, which could result in water leaks and interruptions.

You should replace the door latch assembly if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad door latch assembly can include regular wear and tear, damage from forceful closing or opening, or electrical issues within the latch mechanism. A malfunctioning door latch can prevent the washer from operating correctly.

Symptoms of a bad door latch assembly include:

  • The washer door not latching or locking properly
  • The washing machine not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Error codes related to door lock issues
  • Difficulty in opening or closing the door

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
