Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10253483

The Door Latch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is designed to secure the washer door during operation, ensuring it remains closed and locked. This assembly is crucial for the safe and effective operation of the washing machine, preventing the door from opening mid-cycle, which could result in water leaks and interruptions.

You should replace the door latch assembly if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad door latch assembly can include regular wear and tear, damage from forceful closing or opening, or electrical issues within the latch mechanism. A malfunctioning door latch can prevent the washer from operating correctly.

Symptoms of a bad door latch assembly include:

  • The washer door not latching or locking properly
  • The washing machine not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Error codes related to door lock issues
  • Difficulty in opening or closing the door

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Mishelle for Model Number whirlpool wfw9550wr00

I was washing a load of towels. Right at the drain and spin cycle, I heard a pop, like the door locking sound but a little louder. At this point, I was able to reset the lock and get my towels out which had not spun yet, but when I turned the power back on and picked a cycle and hit the start button the only thing that happened was the door locked and nothing started. At that point none of the buttons worked and the only way to open the door was to keep cutting the power and turning it back on. Any ideas as to what has happened or is it the door mechanism? Please advise, Mishelle

Answer

Hello Mishelle, NOTE: Washer must be empty and the control must be in the OFF state. 1. Close the door. 2. Select any one key (except “STOP/CANCEL” and “CONTROL LOCK” [EOC]) and follow the steps below, using the same key: Press/hold for 2-5 seconds, release for 2-5 seconds, press/hold for 2-5 seconds, release for 2-5 seconds. press/hold for 2-5 seconds. 3. Upon release, all yellow/green console LED lights will turn ON for 5 seconds. 4. If there are any failure codes stored by the washer, the display shows them. Note: The last four errors will be displayed. 5. Press the same key to advance to the next code. 6. After the indication of error codes, the UI, CCU, and MCU SW version will be displayed. 7. The number of cycles since last clean washer cycle is displayed. 8. All green console LED lights will turn ON for 5 seconds. 9. Next the washer begins the automated diagnostic test. 10. To cancel out of service mode, press the “STOP” button. This is all explained on the units' tech sheet located inside the unit n a plastic bag, usually located affixed to the back of the front access panel. The fault codes are also explained on this sheet. Be sure to put it back so it can be located for the next failure.
