Dee Two questions: 1) Explain what to do with the extra wire that comes with the thermostat cut off kit 279816 piece 312968. We didnt have a wire with our old one so were unsure if its to go to the element. For kicks we left the old one in and it works with several new parts we had, is that OK? 2) How hot is the dryer to get once complete? Our dryer, outside of where the thermostat was replaced, without the back screwed on, is too hot to touch. If touched you would burn your hand. Is this normal, as we wouldnt normally pay attention, due to the fact that the back of the dryer would be screwed on for protection?
Answer Hello Dee. The wire is only use on certian models. If it is not needed on your model, it is ok. You will need to test the air temperature coming out of the back of the vent on the dryer. It should cycle between 110° and 155° +-10%. If it is with in range, the dryer is working properly. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, July 1, 2011
