Aaron A for Model Number WED9050XW0

I bought a number of items including the thermo-fuse thermsistor, and something else (from appliancepartspro) to fix my problems but not seem to work. My problem is the dry will turn on fine starts to warm up about 2 mintues later the circuit breaker pops, but the dry is still going with no heat. As soon as I open the door all power to the machine cuts off. I tried to run the self test after asking for help online, but could not get it to work. any help would be greatly appericiated. I was thinking of buying the High thermal-cut off, but I am tired of spending money at this thing. the hearter element looks to be in good condition.

Answer

Aaron, You may need to remove the heater assembly and check for "arc" marks on the plate and inside the housing. The element could get hot(like it should) and may droop and touch the mounting plate, causing a short to ground and the breaker will trip and the dryer won't heat. Purchaing a multi meter TJMA-DM1 can and usually save you a lot of frustration, time and money in the long run, and is a pretty good investment. There is a slight possibility that the hi limit thermostat is shorting to ground, or a wire in the heater circuit has melted or may be "pinched" and shorts to the chassis after a length of time, You'll need some sort of a meter to check for this type of issue.
