John, That style fuse, should control the 120 VAC power supply to the motor, if it opens, the motor won't start or run. This style fuse is a heat sensitive device, so you'll need to start searching for a heater problem( clogged exhaust system, dirty lint filter, overload, etc. Thanks and Good Luck
