Kurt P. for Model Number ED2KHAXVO We are shutting the house down for the Winter and always blow all the water lines out with compressed air. How can we shortcycle the ice maker to clear those lines. Last year we thought we cleared it but in the spring we found the water valve broken and had to replace it
Answer Kurt, It'll be a little difficult, but doable. You'll need a short length(2 or 3 inches) of insulated 14 gauge wire, and strip both ends of the wire. Once you turn off the water supply, remove the white plastic front cover off the ice maker, and tape the freezer door switch down/closed. On the front of the mechanism plate at roughly the 4 and 5 o'clock position you'll see two openings labeled "T" and "H" insert the ends of the wire in the openings and hold it there until the rake arm starts to rotate, then remove the wire. The ice maker should cycle through to a complete cycle. You my want to repeat the test cycle again a few minutes later. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, November 13, 2014
